Thank you for being here, my name is Valerie! I am passionate about social justice, mental health and a variety of other issues. I earned my master’s in social work at Columbia University in 2014 and have worked for over a decade in NYC with people who are experiencing severe mental illness, family trauma, chronic illness, end of life, grief and a variety of other life experiences. I offer compassionate, personalized care to help you navigate life’s challenges. I emphasize respect for other cultures, as I am biracial and of Southeast Asian identity.
Two of my most intense experiences include becoming a parent of a special needs child, and surviving Hodgkin's lymphoma. Therapy sessions will not include much more disclosure on my end, but some connection points at times are useful to build an authentic and empathetic therapeutic relationship.
